12 still wrapped DVDs? Amateur! I think I have at least three dozen, some going back years, that are constantly staring at me to be viewed. I find myself re-watching old favorites more frequently, I guess.

If Blu-Ray tanks at least I'd still have a 1080p TV! This kind of rational will keep me in debt forever. :D

I know what you mean about neglecting movies, beagle. I noticed today I have something like 12 DVDs that haven't even been removed from their wrappers!

Honestly, King, I would wait a year before going to Blu-Ray. I think 2009 is the year we'll find out if it'll really take off or if it's the new laserdisc.

This could be the year I convert to Blu-Ray, if only as an excuse to get a 1080p flat panel. I already have a 720p which is just fine for Abbott & Costello, but I'd like to see new movies in their ultimate high tech glory. However, I'm seriously peeved by reports, like in today's NY Times, that the future is in streamlining movies from the net. No sir, movies are discs to be held like fine jewelry and placed on a shelf between viewings. No vaporous bytes in a hard drive for me!

Meanwhile, I hope to continue in this year finding amazing, rare stuff on YouTube. I wish WB would release a 5-disc Vitaphone set. I also would like to see more semi-lost films (held hostage in archives) be made available. I mean, why the wait???

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Not many film goals other than to see some more El Brendel films I haven't seen before and continue with the research.

To watch more films about Japanese folklore and legend or any Japanese film which references such topics even if set in modern times. I also hope to watch any and all things directed by Takashi Miike.
