It really is hard to identify these actresses, especially when photos are so old or grainy. After a while they all begin to look alike. I wish I could get my hands on Brent E. Walker's book. I know it would help but I just cant get myself to fork out the money.

Hi joltenjoeswife, and thanks! The LoC is indeed wrong on some pics; there is a photo in their online archive labeled as being Marie in "Godless Girl" which is actually Phyllis Haver in "Chicago".

I honestly can't tell if they're the same person or not. I have mild prosopagnosia and it's sometimes impossible for me to identify people in photos, especially older photos with lower resolution. For example, I found a group photo with 18 Beauties and even now, Mary Thurman looks like Phyllis to me, the only difference being height and eye makeup. But I can almost always spot Gonda Durand! I can't tell you WHY I'm like this, I just am. It's making this project really difficult.

I'm working on a Bathing Beauties post, and that group photo will be included, so stay tuned!

The lady with Marie is in fact Mary Thurman. It is often mistakened as Phyllis Haver because this pic is listed as such with the Library of Congress. I've spent about a year trying to ID many bathing beauties and I had quite a few articles and such that show that she is Mary Thurman. If you compare her to Bathing Beauty photos of Phyllis, you can tell they are quite different looking.
