Here are a few movies on Fox Movies, TCM, and Sundance for the coming month of October that you may be interested in. All times Eastern. Don't forget, some of these movies may end up being edited, time compressed, or in the wrong aspect ratio. You know how it is.
This month's post is a little sparse on descriptions because guys, I am so behind on the October shenanigans I am planning. Frankly, Sundance and Fox are showing a lot of films they've shown in the recent past, so there's not much to mention for either channel. But look out for TCM, because this month it is going to kick your butt first and ask questions never, that's how fierce it is.

Heavy Metal (1981)
October 14, 3:45 AM (early morning the 15th)
First in this month's two-way tie for the What The Shit Is This Selection. This cult animated feature chronicles a mysterious green orb and the destruction it brings to all who encounter it. Heavy Metal is full of nudity, immature humor, and bad animation... but to be fair, it didn't look that bad back in 1990 when I first saw it. Most consider it a film to be watched only by now-40-something men who sentimentally remember the horniness that resulted from watching the film when they were adolescents, but I do think there's a bit more to it than that. Not much mind you, but if you don't mind puerile humor and animated breasts, check it out.
Light in the Piazza (1962)
October 16, 2:15 PM
The other film in the two-way tie for What The Shit Is This. SPOILERS! This film is about a middle-aged couple who spar over the fact that the father feels the mother (Livvy DeHavilland) coddles their 20-something mentally challenged daughter (Yvette Mimieux). He threatens to leave his wife if she doesn't get rid of their daughter somehow, either marry her off or put her in a home. The beautiful daughter's mental condition is portrayed as perpetual naivete rather than an actual disability. When a handsome Italian boy falls for her, the mom worries whether it's fair to let him marry her or not. The film portrays the Italian family as being so clueless due to language and culture barriers that they have no idea that the girl is mentally ill, they just see her as charmingly naive, so the mom takes advantage of it and marries her off without telling them she's disabled. This is considered a happy ending, love conquering all. Whee.

Fox understands me. The only way to follow up Predator 2 is by watching Predator 2 again.
I refuse to leave the house at all during TCM's horror days/nights! Is there anything good that they are NOT showing? Val Lewton, William Castle, all the greats! I LOVE October, love Halloween -- I am so happy I got TCM back I could just scream -- with horror! MUWAHAHAHA!
Yay! You have TCM again!
I shamefully admit that while I was typing this schedule up, I was thinking I should see Predator 2 again because I barely remember it from the first viewing.
My word verification is ingump. For reals.
what a great post. thank you for this guide!
Unfortunately, I only have TCM out of the three channels, but this post will make for the perfect quick reference guide throughout the month of Awesometober! You deserve the Nobel Prize!
