Kansas Silent Film Festival, Feb. 26 and 27, 2010
Thursday, February 25, 2010

The Kansas Silent Film Festival in Topeka starts tomorrow night with a full day of silents on Saturday. I have sadly been busy and haven't been able to post about this until now, about 28 hours before the festival begins, but wanted to at least note this year's event. You can find the program here. This year's special guest speaker is the granddaughter of Buster Keaton and Norma Talmadge, and she will be introducing two films, one of which is "Our Hospitality." I won't be going this year but I hope those of you who do will have a great time!

Very cool! I've loved Our Hospitality (and every other Buster Keaton film I've seen) since being introduced to it in a film study class some years ago. I wish I could find a theater locally that exhibited some of these classics!

I'm not a big fan of silent comedy. Except for Our Hospitality. I love that film so much.
It's hit and miss with me and silent comedies. I haven't seen "Our Hospitality" because I'm an idiot. Also, so little time, etc. etc. But I did re-watch "The Cameraman" last month and while it left me kind of "meh" the first time, I really loved it this time.
