She Blogged By Night

For various reasons, I will be taking the next several days off from the Internet. I may be banana-grassing, or I may be playing The Chicken Game, or I may be watching Jack Benny on old "What's My Line" reruns. Who's to say?

But before I go, I would like to encourage those of you film bloggers who haven't yet signed up for Lucid Screening's 3rd Annual White Elephant Film Blogathon to do so. EDIT: The films were assigned on March 1st, so if you haven't signed up by now, you'll have to wait until next year.

The basic gist is that you choose a movie (see the 1st Annual WEFB here for examples) for review. Through random choice, mathematical finesse and/or evil sorcery, your movie choice will be assigned to someone who will review it, while you review a movie you've been assigned. Get it? It's like a white elephant gift exchange. The last white elephant gift I got was a sock monkey, which I thought was cute, but the guy who gave it to me was so embarrassed by it that he made the whole thing a real downer. Let this be a lesson to you all: DON'T BE THE SOCK MONKEY GIVER. You know I speak the truth.

I am pee-my-pants excited about this blogathon, and can't wait to find out what film I receive, although I'm afraid I may end up with something starring Pauly Shore and/or Kevin Costner. Oh well, you pays your money, you takes your chances.
