The 16th Annual Buster Keaton Celebration

Sunday, September 21, 2008

This week is the 16th Annual Buster Keaton Celebration in Iola, Kansas. It starts Friday, September 26th and continues for a very full day on September 27th.

I admit that I have been to Iola, and even Keaton's birthplace of Piqua, but I haven't been to the festival. YET. When I traveled through Piqua a few years ago I drove around the whole town, which consists about 30 houses and a co-op, but couldn't find the plaque that is there to commemorate the town as Keaton's birthplace, nor did I know about the museum. I heard there was a trip from the festival into Piqua to see the sights, but I don't see it on this year's schedule.

From those I know who have gone to the festival, I have heard nothing but good things about it. If you have a chance to attend, don't pass it up!
