About the Blog

She Blogged By Night is my personal blog, a record of my journey through films and culture, focusing on lesser-known and hard to find films.

COMMENT POLICY:

No assholes. No shenanigans. No exceptions.

I may moderate or delete comments for any reason. Comment approval is required on posts over 7 days old, and I may turn it on for more recent posts or prevent anonymous comments if I need to.

The content on SBBN is not intended to be neutral. Commenters can discuss and disagree as much as desired as long as everyone acts like an adult. No scolding, flames, freak outs, attacks, passive aggressive threats, or actual threats. These are my opinions on my blog written on my time and my dime. SBBN is not a democracy, so what you say on this blog may be removed if I feel like it. I need not explain myself to you. All that said, I have a relatively thick skin. Plenty of jackhholes and their comments remain undeleted on SBBN.

AWARDS, MEMES AND SPECIAL MENTIONS:

There are a lot of awards and memes out there which ask that the recipient pass the award on to more people. I often don't get around to passing these awards or memes on, and it's not at all intended to be a personal slight or rudeness. It's entirely because I have very little time in the day. However, if I fail to thank you, that is entirely due to an oversight on my part. If this happens, please accept my apologies, and you have my permission to insult me repeatedly.

CONTENT:

There will be spoilers, but I try to warn you.

Photos are mostly found on sites around the web. Screencaps are almost always mine. You can take the photos on SBBN and use them however you want, but you can't plagiarize the content or pretend to be me. More details here and here.

SBBN started out as PG, but it's easily PG-13 now, maybe R at times. I could go full-blown X if I felt like it. Commenters are welcome to cuss all they want. (No name-calling, please.)

The categories of posts on SBBN are:

  • Lengthy summaries with a bit of reflection and review in them, along with screencaps, photos, links, and even research information if I have the time or ability. I call them "executive summary" posts because they are usually very long, the exact opposite of what an executive summary should be, which I think is funny. Such is my sense of humor. These summaries are not intended as full fledged reviews unless specifically noted, so please keep the bitchy comments about how I don't do a proper review to yourself.
  • Shorter comments on films that have been recently watched.
  • Bette Davis and Marie Prevost Projects: I am trying to watch every Bette Davis film ever, excluding those I had already seen before the Project began. The Marie Project is the same thing but more difficult in that many of her films are lost or unavailable for most people to view. Also, the Marie Project is being done chronologically with information even on films I haven't watched yet, if I can find any such information.
  • Photo Galleries: Dude, I have a metric freakload of pictures. Sometimes I just have to post a bunch of them to get them out of my pending list.
  • Screencaps: Some with quotes, some without. The movies in my screencap posts are always films I enjoy. The quotes accompanying the screencaps may not seem like they're positive, but they are intended to at least make you think.
  • Halloween: I post something every day during the month of October. The first year was 2009, and I swear to you I actually lost readers when I posted every day. In 2010, I expected the same thing, but this time gained a few readers. Let's see what 2011 brings.

POSTING SCHEDULE

There may often be lengthy gaps between posts due to health issues, laundry, school, laundry, work, laundry, or other craziness that occurs. I usually take a few weeks of hiatus in July or August.

CONTACT AND BLOGROLL INFO:

You can contact me at she @ shebloggedbynight.com or glitterninja @ gmail.com. I add blogs to my blogroll, follow blogs, or put them in my blog list widget at whim. Feel free to email me, but please don't email me regarding "link trades."

STATS:

SBBN is a low-traffic blog. Begun on September 24, 2007, SBBN now garners on average 6000 hits per month for a total of 268,000 as of March 17, 2011. SBBN gets on average 200 unique hits per day, 400 on days I manage to post something.

EDITS TO POSTS:

Most bloggers don't edit their posts once the post goes live, but I don't follow that protocol. Posts will be edited whenever I see fit, as I consider SBBN more of a webpage than a blog. If I make a mistake I go back and correct it, whether it's a typo or a larger informational mistake. I may also update a post to include new information. In the past I kept a page of edits here, but I no longer update it.

ABOUT THE GIRL:

My name is Stacia and I live in Manhattan, Kansas, with two fuzzy cats, one fuzzy husband, and a woefully small movie collection. I have been on the 'net since 1993 and can be found on Usenet, journal sites, film forums and as commenter on other blogs.
